Enchanted Glass
thumb|220x220pxEnchanted glass was a hacked item created during the third backdoor. It was literally just stained glass blocks of various colors with high level (though not unobtainably high) sword enchantments put on them. What made them special was the fact that after 1.9, enchantments can’t be applied to items which those enchantments aren’t intended for without using commands. The reason is because, due to the limit on weapon attack speed, a non-weapon item with weapon enchantments will do more damage per second than a diamond weapon with the same enchantments, as long as you click fast enough.
The idea behind creating enchanted glass was precisely this, to create a weapon more powerful than a diamond sword. Why stained glass blocks, of all things, were chosen for this, remains anybody's guess. The most likely reason may have been so that, if the user was about to be killed in PVP, they could place their enchanted glass, causing it to lose all of its enchantments and become just a regular glass block, preventing their killer from taking possession of it. Making it glass would ensure that the killer wouldn't even get a free block for their trouble, unless they happened to have a silk touch axe on them. Since this was before the curse of vanishing was added, this would have been rather convenient.
Originally there were few of these, but during the early stages of the rusher war, Babbaj and other players who possessed them gave them to other veterans, most notably Fit, to use in combat. The veterans created more of them during this time using the 2016 minecart dupe. When the resistance got their hands on both the minecart dupe and some copies of enchanted glass, they, too, were able to use the enchanted glass against their enemies. This prompted some of the veterans to inform hausemaster of the existence of the minecart dupe, and he patched it, though the enchanted glass remained, for now.
Lots of end crystals were duped around the same time, and once people realized these were a way more effective weapon than enchanted glass, it largely fell out of use. By the time hausemaster removed it along with all other items with “illegal” enchantments, people didn’t care very much, focusing rather on the impact of more major removals such as stacked armor.
If you want, you can use commands to put enchantments on glass blocks in a singleplayer world, and enchanted glass still exists in old 2b2t world downloads made before its removal, but on 2b2t itself, enchanted glass is lost to time.Category:ItemsCategory:Hacked ItemsCategory:BackdoorCategory:Exploit
